What tackle do I need to start lure fishing?

A rod with a 10 g to 28 g casting weight and a spinning reel in size 1000, 2500 or 3000 depending on how light you want to fish, a few soft lures, jig heads in a range of weights and a storage box. Start with weights from 3.5 g to 7 g depending on your water.

Why a tungsten jig head instead of lead?

Tungsten is about 1.7 times denser than lead, so at the same weight the head is more compact. That improves sensitivity and presentation and reduces snags. It is also 100% lead-free, ahead of the upcoming EU restriction. See tungsten vs lead.
